An excerpt from an interview with Jacqueline Gold, Chief Executive of Ann Summers discussing money and her investment strategy.
Do you invest in shares?
“My husband and I are particularly interested in anything green – that’s where the future is as both the US and British governments invest money in green projects and more countries are having to find alternatives to oil.
At the moment, we have a stake in a company called Ceravision, which produces plasma lighting that is twice as efficient and half the cost of any other lamp on the market. We started investing in it about six years ago through an Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), which is appealing as it offers 20% tax relief if you hold it for three years. We have seen the company grow tenfold over that time.”
